12″ – Ape Music
Prima release per la neonata Ape Music che fa capo ad Alex Shellard e Ben Ervine, in arte Ben & Lex, noti produttori e dj ancora in forza alla Functional Breaks. Ci pensa Will White, sul lato A, ad aprire le danze con ‘Wait A Minute’, incisione altamente energetica e funky, con battute grasse e buoni sample vocali. L’ex Propellerheads, attivo anche con il moniker di Pimpwax, sa esattamente come far ondeggiare le piste grazie ai ritmi bongolati, un pizzico acidi, qui sottostanti ad un andamento lineare che al meglio dispiega la propensione all’immediato divertimento. Sul retro il compito è lasciato agli stessi padroni di casa, Ben & Lex, che si superano, con un brano ipnotico al punto giusto e fascinoso nelle atmosfere, mentre i bassi vibranti e la ritmica s’imprimono senza remore. In catalogo già s’annunciano altre quattro uscite (Transformer Man, Entity, Pilch, Groove Diggerz: questi i nomi coinvolti), insomma, un’etichetta che promette faville e che si posiziona ottimamente fra quelle nuove da tenere d’occhio per il prossimo anno.
