Con il primo estratto del loro album oramai pronto all’uscita, la coppia formata da Dan Havers e Sam Ashwell, al secolo Vent, si prepara a mesi di fuoco. Sono quattro le tracce riunite nel Deviant Creatures Part 1 e prima di farle partire dal nostro player facciamo un respiro profondo, perché ogni uscita Hardcore Beats ha bisogno di concentrazione e nervi saldi. ‘White Out’ a 136 bpm chiarisce subito delle intezioni del duo, abilissimo nel dipanare rotte sequenze, assai energetiche ma anche cinematiche. Breakbeat sci-fi, dalle frequenze bassose e inquiete, forgiate fra pause e ripartenze di peso in livide ambientazioni londinesi. Maggiormente interlocutoria ‘Crystallite’ nel Deviant Edit a 110 bpm, altrettanto scura e futuristicamente misterica, incisione della quale – fuori uscita – ci ritroviamo anche un remix di SiBegg. Pure è battente, ellittica e rude, d’influenza dubstep, a 140 bpm, con tagli tendenziosissimi e cupi, ‘Ghost’, che procede seghettante, nervosa e amabilmente densa, mentre con ‘Monkey Chew’ si ritorna appena sui 100 bpm, svettando frastagliate complesse cesure e ritmicità groovy.
